Aragonese Farmers Increase Recycling Of Agricultural Packaging Mark1199 To 345980 Kilos. The Anlabel Agroquímicos company of Ernesto Bello de Cariñena (Zaragoza) and the Cooperativa Agrícola San José de Sádaba (Zaragoza) have received the SIGFITO awards.
In 2019, 309,646 kilos of packaging were recycled, while in 2020 345,980 kilos were collected, which shows an increase of 36,334 kilos of more packaging. With all these recycled packaging, the emission of approximately 518,970 kilos of CO2 has been saved.
The data has been released by SIGFITO (Fertilizer and Phytosanitary Container Collection System) during the SIGFITO awards ceremony, which recognize the companies in the agri-food sector that are more environmentally aware.
On this occasion, the collection points that have recycled the most in the Aragonese community in 2020 have been the company Anlabel Agroquímicos de Ernesto Bello de Cariñena (Zaragoza) and the Cooperativa Agrícola San José de Sádaba (Zaragoza). Both have been recognized with the SIGFITO awards.
This increase in recycling has been possible thanks to the 273 collection points located in cooperatives and distributors of agricultural products that are at the service of the Aragonese farmer.
“With these awards, the important work that these collection points carry out to take care of the environment and avoid the devastating effects of climate change on our agriculture is recognized, since thanks to the fact that the farmer delivers the containers at these points, in addition to being by producing food, it is contributing to the environment “, affirms the general director of SIGFITO, Rocío Pastor.
The farmer only has to deposit the empty containers with the SIGFITO symbol in these cooperatives and distributors of agricultural products, previously rinsed and separated by material. After delivering them, you must request a digital delivery note to justify your compliance with the regulations.
The prizes have been delivered within an act in which the Minister of Agriculture of the Government of Aragon, Joaquín Olona, has valued the double environmental and agrarian nature of the collection system and has indicated that “it is consistent with environmental requirements of the new CAP “.
Olona has highlighted the “fundamental role of cooperatives in advising to reach farmers”, apart from recalling that “one more year the recycling figure increases, which shows the growing sensitivity of farmers and the effectiveness of the system collection of fertilizer and phytosanitary containers “.
